Is this the official Notion MCP server?

No. Notion runs its own hosted MCP server. InsightfulPipe is an independent, hosted server that connects to the Notion API through the InsightfulPipe integration. InsightfulPipe is not affiliated with Notion.

Which AI assistants does it work with?

Any AI client that supports remote MCP servers. The setup guide on this page covers Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini CLI and Codex. You can also work with the same connected accounts from the terminal with the InsightfulPipe CLI.

Is there a Claude connector for Notion?

Yes. In Claude, add https://notion.insightfulmcp.com/ as a custom connector and authorize your InsightfulPipe account. You can also add InsightfulPipe from the Claude Directory, which connects all of your linked accounts at once.

Can I use the Notion MCP server with ChatGPT?

Yes. Add the server URL as a custom connector in ChatGPT Developer mode, or add InsightfulPipe from the ChatGPT app directory to connect all of your linked accounts. Developer mode availability depends on your ChatGPT plan.

Which Notion pages can my AI access?

Only the pages and databases shared with the InsightfulPipe integration when you connect, and the content inside them. Within those, it can read pages, properties, blocks, databases, data sources, templates, comments and workspace users.

Can it create and edit Notion content?

Yes, on workspaces connected with Read & Write access. It can create pages and databases, update page properties, icons and covers, move pages, append and update blocks, add data sources to databases, update data source schemas and add comments.

Is it safe to let AI edit Notion?

You control the risk. Connect as Read-only, or choose exactly which actions are allowed on a Read & Write workspace. The delete block action, which archives a block, stays off until an owner, admin or operator enables it. Updating a page or block can also archive it and is a regular write action, so turn those off where agents should not remove content.

Can I connect multiple Notion workspaces?

Yes. Each connection is one Notion workspace, and you can connect several. Each connected workspace counts as one connection on your plan.

How does authentication work?

You sign in with Notion OAuth and choose the pages to share. Read-only connections use a separate Notion integration without write capabilities. InsightfulPipe stores the token encrypted, and your AI client signs in to the MCP server with your InsightfulPipe account, not your Notion login.

What are the limitations?

It can only see pages shared with the integration. Deleting archives content rather than removing it permanently, and there are no actions for uploading files, duplicating pages or creating database views. Notion API rate limits apply, and a rate-limited request returns an error for your assistant to retry.
