New campaigns, ad groups and ads are created paused.

New campaigns, ad groups and ads start paused, including bulk creates, and owners, admins and operators choose exactly which actions each ad account exposes, across read, write and destructive, and your AI is given exactly that set; anything outside it is blocked. Archiving audiences or lead forms and removing audience identifiers stay off by default. Updates can set a campaign, ad group or ad live or archive it permanently, and OpenAI Ads connections use an API key with no Read-only option, so turn off the update actions for any account where agents should not change what is live. Team members with restricted access only get read actions.

Yes. Each OpenAI Ads API key is scoped to one ad account, so you add a key for each account you want to connect. Each connected ad account counts as one connection on your plan, and your assistant can compare them in one conversation.

OpenAI Ads uses API keys rather than a sign-in flow. You issue an Ads API key in the Settings tab of OpenAI Ads Manager and add it to InsightfulPipe, and you can add an optional Conversions API key to send server-side events. Your AI client signs in to the MCP server with your InsightfulPipe account and never sees your API keys. You can disconnect an ad account at any time.

Yes. You need an ad account in OpenAI Ads Manager, which you can sign up for at ads.openai.com, and permission to create an Ads API key for it.

It cannot create product feeds or upload full catalogs, which happen in OpenAI Ads Manager, and it only uploads images from a public URL. A campaign's bidding type and conversion events cannot be changed after it is created, segment breakdowns depend on what OpenAI enables for your account, and sending conversion events needs a Conversions API key.
